This week we are celebrating the second anniversary of Certsure’s improved NICEIC and ELECSA Insurance Services. Relaunched in 2017, the service powered by SME Insurance Services (smei) was developed to provide contractors with high quality, affordable and flexible insurance.
The response from day one has been ‘electric’ and has gone from strength to strength ever since. The team at smei has worked hard to help NICEIC and ELECSA members find the right insurance at the right price, spending a total of 4981 hours (or 208 days) on the phone to customers the last twelve months.
That hard work is reflected in both the growth of the scheme and in overall customer satisfaction, with almost 93% of our customers renewing with us*.

But we’re not resting on our laurels. We always want to offer the best we can, and that is why we have invested in further improving the NICEIC and ELECSA Insurance Services proposition for you.
For instance, we’ve improved the tools cover, we can now insure up to 15 non-clerical employees, and broadened the scope of our core contractors cover – we can now quote as long as 1% of your work is electrical. We’ve also increased our range of commercial vehicle insurance options, to give NICEIC and ELECSA members greater choice.
On top of that, we have made it easier to buy online, and we even have an updated mobile friendly website in the works as we know many of you are onsite when you need to arrange your insurance. But we haven’t stopped there – for those who want to speak to us for insurance advice and take out cover over the phone, we’ve increased the size of our insurance team to support you.
Remember that we also do more than just help you find affordable, effective insurance. A key part of our role is to advise you on the risks affecting you and your business, and how to mitigate them. For instance, we recently published an article setting out the risk that an injury sustained in your social life could leave you unable to work and earn money. We highlighted that ‘short-term income protection and personal accident cover’ may be a suitable means of protecting your livelihood if the worst should happen. You can read the article here.
Finally, on a lighter note, it was great to meet so many of you at NICEIC and ELECSA Live in the North and South. We hope to see many more of you again at future events.
